The client is a financial services institution operating in the consumer and retail lending space within the Southern African region. It provides loan products and payment services to a broad customer base and operates in a highly regulated banking and payments ecosystem. As the organization scaled its operations, reliability, availability, and speed-to-market became critical enablers for future growth.

The organization was running on an older version of its core banking platform, which had become a constraint rather than an enabler. Limited flexibility in the existing setup made it difficult to introduce new products, respond quickly to regulatory changes, or support modern payment instruments mandated in the South African market.
The legacy environment also increased operational complexity. Manual interventions, longer processing cycles, and dependency on IT teams slowed down business innovation. As transaction volumes grew, the risk of system downtime and scalability issues posed a direct threat to customer experience, regulatory compliance, and business continuity.

Solution
To address these challenges, the client undertook a full re-implementation of its core banking and financial crime systems on a modern, cloud-based platform. The solution was built on Temenos Transact (CBS) and Temenos Financial Crime Mitigation (FCM), deployed on Temenos SaaS Cloud 2.0.
The implementation covered end-to-end core banking (T24), Temenos Payments Hub (TPH), and FCM, ensuring seamless integration across systems. New clearing mechanisms were configured to support South Africa–specific payment instruments such as SAMOS, EFT, and DebiCheck, including gateway integrations with national payment infrastructures.
In parallel, existing staff loan capabilities were implemented across both legacy and new core versions to ensure business continuity during transition. The modular architecture of the platform allowed business users to design and launch products with minimal IT dependency, while the cloud deployment delivered high availability, security, and scalability by design.
