The client is a UAE-based non-bank financial institution operating in the SME finance and business banking sector. Serving small and medium-sized enterprises across the United Arab Emirates, the organization focuses on providing working capital, trade finance, and deposit products to businesses that form the backbone of the regional economy. Established in the mid-2010s, the institution set out to differentiate itself by offering faster, simpler, and more transparent financial services compared to traditional banks.
Challenge
As the organization grew, its ambitions began to outpace its technology foundation. Core banking and transaction processing were heavily dependent on third-party institutions, limiting control, slowing innovation, and increasing operational complexity. Manual, paperwork-heavy processes constrained scalability, while legacy approaches made it difficult to launch new products quickly or respond to changing SME needs.
From a business perspective, this technology gap created several risks: slower time-to-market for new services, higher operating costs, limited visibility for management reporting, and an inability to deliver the digital-first experience that modern SME clients increasingly expect.

Solution
To overcome these constraints, the organization embarked on a full core and digital banking transformation. A modern, cloud-native banking platform was implemented using Temenos Transact for core banking and Temenos Infinity for digital channels, delivered via the Temenos Banking Cloud on Microsoft Azure.
The solution was deployed in a phased yet accelerated approach. Core capabilities such as loans, fixed deposits, accounts, payments, and liquidity management were implemented first, followed by mobile and internet banking services. The cloud deployment eliminated the need to manage on-premise infrastructure, while direct integration with the UAE Central Bank systems removed the complexity of additional middleware.
Advanced digital capabilities, including biometric-based customer verification, were integrated into the digital channels. At the same time, reporting and operational tools were modernized, enabling internal teams to generate real-time reports without relying on manual spreadsheets.
