With numerous oil rigs and other assets, oil & gas companies produce copious amounts of data each year that need to be managed effectively for positive business outcomes. Data management in oil & gas industry can be an immense challenge given the rapid adoption of digital platforms. Our client, a prominent oil & gas drilling company in Qatar, were also facing a similar problem.

With major onshore and offshore operations, the client grappled with a critical issue: the lack of efficient data management. As their operations expanded, so did the volume of data generated by numerous rigs and newly acquired assets. However, difficulties came along with this growth. The company heavily relied on Oracle for managing essential master data, but this dependency hindered seamless data synchronization. Inconsistent database scripts further exacerbated the situation, leading to discrepancies, delays, and inefficiencies. Decision-making became cumbersome and operational effectiveness suffered. We recognized that the growing volumes of data due to new rigs and equipment, coupled with an Oracle dependency for master data, were hindering the client’s operational efficiency. Additionally, inconsistent database scripts exacerbated inefficiencies and discrepancies. We meticulously developed customized templates for master data related to rigs, preventive maintenance (PMs), job plans, safety plans, and resources. These templates ensured uniformity and consistency during data loading processes, minimizing errors and discrepancies. Using the robust Maximo integration framework, we performed large-scale data loads. This streamlined the transfer of information across systems, enhancing efficiency and accuracy. We also seamlessly connected Maximo with Oracle by developing custom APIs to bridge the gap between the two platforms. This allowed for smooth data exchange and synchronization.
