Client
The client is a large retail and corporate bank operating in South Asia, serving millions of customers across personal and business banking segments. Operating in a highly regulated and competitive market, the bank plays a critical role in enabling digital financial services for individuals and enterprises across the region.
Challenge
As customer expectations for digital banking rapidly evolved, the bank’s existing digital and online banking platforms struggled to keep pace. Multiple standalone systems supported mobile and online banking, leading to higher maintenance costs, slower turnaround times, and limited flexibility to introduce new features. Regulatory requirements demanded tighter operational controls, manual oversight in sensitive areas, and stronger security mechanisms such as device management and multi-factor authentication. At the same time, the bank faced increasing pressure to launch new digital services quickly while ensuring stability, scalability, and compliance—without disrupting day-to-day operations.
Solution
To address these challenges, the bank partnered with BCT to modernize its digital banking landscape using Temenos Digital (Infinity). The solution was built on Temenos Infinity Release R24, integrated with the bank’s core banking platform running on Temenos Transact R23. BCT adopted a hybrid delivery model, combining onsite workshops and training with offshore development to accelerate delivery while optimizing costs.
The implementation covered retail digital banking capabilities across mobile and online channels. Key regulatory-driven customizations were introduced, including controlled manual interventions for customer enrollment, device management, and multi-factor authentication. Custom digital journeys were developed for services such as remittances and fixed deposits, ensuring alignment with local regulatory practices. A new merchant bill payment capability supporting multiple payment aggregators was built from the ground up using Temenos Visualiser and Spotlight. Midway through the program, the platform was seamlessly upgraded from Infinity R23 to R24, with all customizations retrofitted to ensure functional accuracy and business continuity.
