Connecting Vehicle Tracking with Delivery Confirmation
BCT integrated fleet monitoring, digital proof of delivery and journey management to help a manufacturer coordinate outsourced transport across countries and accelerate delivery closeout.
Client
Challenge
Operations teams had limited live visibility into shipment locations, particularly after trucks crossed national borders. Varying customs requirements and road conditions created delays that were difficult to anticipate or manage centrally.
Paper-based proof of delivery slowed confirmation and introduced errors. Delivery records were disconnected from invoicing and payment processes, delaying shipment closeout and payments to transporters.
Long-haul journeys also required coordination of routes, driver working hours and rest periods. Without a common view of each journey, the company struggled to manage fatigue risks and assess transporter performance consistently.

Solution
BCT deployed an integrated solution combining an In-Vehicle Monitoring System, digital Proof of Delivery and a Journey Management System. GPS tracking and geofences around key locations, borders and checkpoints gave operations teams live visibility of vehicle progress across the outsourced network.
Drivers captured signatures, photographs and timestamps on mobile devices at delivery, uploading the records immediately. This replaced paper collection and made confirmation available sooner for payment processing.
Automated alerts covered customs documentation, safety checks and border-specific requirements, helping teams address potential gaps before a vehicle reached a crossing. Journey planning considered live traffic, expected customs delays, fuel efficiency and driver hours, with rest-period controls supporting fatigue management.
Transporter-level reporting brought delivery timelines, proof-of-delivery accuracy and service-level adherence into a common view. Teams could use this information to investigate exceptions and manage partner performance.

Impact
Digital proof of delivery improved confirmation speed and accuracy, shortening the interval between delivery completion and payment release. Shared delivery status also kept customers informed and reduced status-check enquiries.
Real-time tracking and route adjustments reduced the impact of border and customs delays. Journey optimisation improved fuel efficiency and reduced downtime, while documentation alerts helped teams manage the risk of shipment disruptions.
The company gained a consistent basis for assessing transporters across its international network. Combining tracking, delivery evidence and journey controls strengthened accountability and gave operations teams the information needed to respond earlier to delivery exceptions.
