Growing loan-related fraud and rising non-performing assets exposed gaps in traditional credit monitoring. Reliance on internal and external ratings delayed the identification of early stress signals and the actions needed to address them.
Customer information was fragmented across systems, leaving teams without a consolidated view of portfolio risk. Monitoring credit fraud, suspicious transactions and other warning signs through separate systems added complexity as transaction volumes increased.

Solution
BCT implemented an Early Warning System in the bank’s production environment as part of a unified monitoring platform. The solution brought together internal and external information to analyse financial, business, management and industry events for emerging signs of credit stress.
An expandable library of more than 150 rules supported monitoring across fund-based and non-fund-based facilities. Multiple risk parameters informed customer scoring, while consolidated alerts and dashboards helped teams review customer and portfolio information together.
Streaming data queues and in-memory processing supported near real-time analysis of suspicious transaction patterns, including potential round tripping and fund siphoning. Configurable workflows defined alert delivery, criticality and resolution timelines across organisational levels.
Role-based access and a responsive interface supported use across desktop and mobile devices. Customer profiles combined financial history, behaviour and interactions with the bank to give teams a fuller basis for investigation and follow-up.

The implementation established a common view of the loan portfolio and emerging customer risks. Reported processing volumes reached approximately 120,000 data points daily and four million monthly, supporting monitoring at the scale of the bank’s operations.
Consolidated profiles and alerts helped teams identify cases requiring attention and initiate appropriate follow-up, such as collections, credit-limit reviews or support for distressed borrowers. The bank’s continued use of the platform brought credit monitoring, portfolio analysis and follow-up into a more connected process.
