BCT’s product ownership aligned multiple delivery partners across six technology modules, supporting a single production launch of the modernised commerce ecosystem.

Challenge
The existing commerce environment depended on tightly connected Magento and Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) platforms. Product catalogue, promotions, content and customer engagement capabilities were distributed across several systems, making the environment increasingly difficult to maintain and evolve.
Introducing new features required coordination across dependent applications and teams. As digital and omnichannel requirements grew, the operator needed to improve flexibility without adding further architectural complexity.
The transformation also had to preserve a consistent shopping experience while the underlying systems changed. Customer, loyalty, onboarding and order-management journeys depended on integrations that needed to work together within the modernised environment.
With multiple vendors delivering across six technology modules, the programme required a common product direction. Business priorities, technical dependencies and release readiness had to remain aligned as additional requirements emerged during delivery.

Two BCT Product Owners drove the product vision, roadmap, requirements and prioritisation. Working alongside partner development and QA teams, they translated business objectives into user stories, acceptance criteria and delivery plans, giving distributed teams a shared understanding of the intended customer experience.
BCT supported the transition from Magento and AEM to a more modular commerce architecture. The new E-commerce Portal provided product and offer services, while Strapi replaced AEM for content management. Product coordination covered catalogue, search, promotions, coupons, content and customer engagement.
For the mobile application, BCT led requirements for registration, membership, rewards, coupons and vouchers, offers and cart experiences. The team also defined requirements for Segment-based interaction tracking to establish a consistent customer analytics foundation.
BCT coordinated product requirements and dependencies for integrations connecting SessionM with the new portal, ECI with onboarding and account services, and checkout with the order management system. The wider ecosystem also included integrations with SFMC and SFCRM.
As the customer introduced additional business requirements, the product team assessed and prioritised the expanded scope within an extended delivery timeline. Close coordination across business, engineering, technical leadership and QA supported readiness for a single production launch.
