Global Financial Institution Cuts Onboarding Time from Days to Hours
BCT used SailPoint IdentityIQ to automate access lifecycle management and bring approvals, reviews and audit evidence into a central governance platform.

Challenge
Onboarding and access provisioning depended largely on manual processes involving multiple teams and approval chains. New employees and consultants waited for application access, IT support teams handled repetitive requests, and access assignments varied across systems.
Identity and entitlement information was distributed without a central governance mechanism. Teams had limited visibility into who could access each application, who owned particular entitlements and whether the access inventory was accurate. This made consistent control difficult across a large environment.
Audit requirements added recurring work. The institution needed to certify access, produce evidence, track historical permissions and prevent conflicting access assignments. Provisioning, access reviews and audit support consumed IT effort that could otherwise support more responsive business services.

Solution
BCT implemented a central Identity Governance and Administration platform using SailPoint IdentityIQ during a nine-month engagement. Integration with authoritative HR systems and enterprise applications connected identity changes to the accounts and permissions affected by them.
The platform automated joiner, mover and leaver processes. Onboarding triggered account creation and access provisioning, transfers and role changes triggered permission updates, and termination or contract expiry triggered deprovisioning. This brought lifecycle events into a consistent workflow instead of relying on separate manual actions across teams.
BCT established a central repository of identities, accounts, roles and entitlements. Ownership management, governance dashboards and consolidated reporting gave teams a common view of access across applications. Role-based access controls supported more consistent assignments.
A self-service portal allowed users to request access through configurable manager and application-owner approvals. Automated fulfilment, status tracking and notifications connected the request to its resolution, reducing dependence on IT support for routine administration.
Governance controls covered periodic access certifications, manager reviews, application-owner certifications, historical access tracking and policy monitoring. Preventive and detective segregation-of-duties controls identified conflicting permissions during requests and supported mitigation and approval workflows. Scheduled reports, certification campaigns and escalation notifications helped sustain these controls as recurring operations.
