Alumni-Bahwan CyberTek Twenty20 Cup

Alumni Club - Anna University is partnering with Bahwan CyberTek to conduct the Alumni-Bahwan CyberTek Twenty20 tournament for premier clubs in Chennai. Alumni Club has been conducting the annual inter-club cricket tournament from 1996.

Alumni Club will be joined in this tournament by premier city clubs like Madras Gymkhana Club, Madras Cricket Club, Madras Club, Indira Nagar Club, Presidency Club, The Mylapore Club, T Nagar Social Club and Gandhi Nagar Club.

The captains of the various clubs participated in the captains meet held in the Alumni Club on 23rd January. Mr. Mike Muralidaran COO & Mr ShyamSundar, EVP, of Bahwan CyberTek presided over the function.

The tournament will be played in the T-20 format. Nine clubs will play in three zones of 3 teams each in a league format with the top teams from each zone playing the next rounds culminating in a grand final. The matches will be played on weekends starting from 28th January.

The AU-BCT Kalam Centre of Excellence set up by Bahwan CyberTek in collaboration with the Ramanujan Computing Centre (RCC), Anna University, was inaugurated by the former President of India, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam in the University’s Guindy Campus today. Through the COE, Bahwan CyberTek will provide an opportunity to enhance the professional skills of the students and faculty of Anna University in BPM, SOA and emerging technologies. Bahwan CyberTek inks Joint venture Agreement with Telekom Brunei

Sultanate’s vision to strengthen its bilateral economic co-operation with Brunei Darussalam took a huge leap yesterday when Bahwan CyberTek, a leading IT products and services company from Sultanate signed a pact to set up a Joint Venture entity with Negara Brunei Darussalam’s largest telecom player Telekom Brunei Berhad’s. The company would be set up in Brunei Darussalam to implement and manage a state of the art Hosted Contact centre, implementation of software applications for the Telco and Government verticals. Innovation in Government - Leveraging Technology for Smart Governance

A workshop conducted at the Raffles Hotel in Dubai entitled "Innovation in Government - Leveraging Technology for Smart Governance" met with an overwhelming response from eGovernment champions from across Federal and various emirates come together to hear Professor Mohanbir Sawhney, McCormick Tribune Professor of Technology and Director of Centre for Research in Technology & Innovation at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.

The workshop commenced with a welcome note by H.E. Salem Khamis Al Shair, Director General of Government Information Authority, who stressed the importance of collaborating between the government and the private sector for the benefit of e-Transformation and e-Governance in the UAE.

"We are keen on having all federal government organizations attend such educative events to enhance their capacities and keep up to date with the latest developments in the fields of innovative government." Al Shair said.

Professor Sawhney who is also on the board of Bahwan CyberTek Group opened the first session with a topic "Leveraging Technology for Citizen Centric Government". He connected very well with the audience articulating the subject through simple yet powerful points like understanding Citizen-Centric Government, the need to make the shift, principles that drive this philosophy, some very interesting case studies & global best practices and actually providing steps for execution to translate vision into reality.

The Management Guru then moved on to an equally interesting and important session to touch upon "Innovation in Government" demystifying the definition of innovation, explaining the need to innovate and how to develop the culture of innovation and providing frameworks & processes to manage innovation. These were substantiated with relevant case studies and correlated with the region's culture, strengths and challenges.

The other key points that the professor touched upon were the need to foster public-private partnerships giving reference to interesting case studies like Infoline in Sultanate of Oman. He stressed the importance of developing shared services, aggregated service delivery referring to hallmark successes like Dubai eGovernment led ePay in the local context.

The session concluded with an inspiring speech by H.E. Salem Khamis Al Shair, an accomplished leader in driving eGovernment and recognized regionally for his ability to both envision and translate into execution success.

The audience were visibly thrilled that they participated in this unique event and felt that the decade old deep partnership & association between Professor Sawhney, the region and the organizers has manifested itself into this meaningful program and delivered with ease of understanding.

According to Mr VM Muralidharan, Chief Operating Officer, “Over the last decade BCT has serviced many global clients, in the various industry verticals such as Government, BFSI, Energy and Utilities, with our Cuecent range of products & services.  We have now decided to emulate this success in the Indian operations. We expect India’s share to be around 10-15% of BCT’s total business in the next three years.”

IIM Bangalore and Bahwan CyberTek LLC explore educational partnership

The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) and Bahwan CyberTek LLC announced on Saturday that they are keen to enter into a partnership to bring management education of international standards to Sultanate of Oman.

The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) is a centre of excellence in management, recognized as one of the top 100 management schools in the world, with international standards of post-graduate and doctoral level teaching, executive education for senior and middle management, research and consulting. Set up in 1973, the sprawling 100-acre campus is a green oasis situated in south Bangalore, with excellent infrastructure, including the latest ICT and extensive library. The Institute’s proximity to some of the leading corporate houses in the country gives the added advantage of integrating classroom knowledge with practical experience.

Pankaj Chandra, Director IIMB and Abhoy K. Ojha, Chairperson, Executive Education are currently visiting Muscat, Oman and other countries in the region to explore possibilities of attracting participants to their executive education programs in Bangalore and also bringing some of their programs to the region in partnership with others in the region.
