Bahwan DHL
Bahwan DHL Supply Chain (Bahwan DHL) is a joint venture between Bahwan CyberTek and DHL Supply Chain. Bahwan DHL was formed principally to provide fourth-party logistics (4PL) services to Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), the country’s leading oil exploration and production company.
Under the largest supply chain management contract ever seen in the country, Bahwan DHL manages PDO's Primary Logistics activities of cargo haulage and transportation of land based of Oil Rigs
The contract also provides a framework where Bahwan DHL provides logistics services to PDO’s contractors, under the banner of Secondary Logistics. Typical contracts that Bahwan DHL provides logistics services for are: -
- Engineering, Procurement & Construction projects – EG. Pipeline installations and replacements
- Material Supply contracts – EG. Line pipes, Chemicals
- Service contracts – EG. Down-hole services
Bahwan DHL deploys a number of key technologies on the contract. Transport Management System (TMS) combines a sophisticated load and cost optimization tool with web based consignment tracking. Move The Limit (MTL) manages the deployment of rig moving assets ensuring effective and efficient use of resources to deliver optimal rig moves.
Bahwan DHL drives improvements in Health, Safety & Environment management in all logistics related activities. Bahwan DHL delivers intelligent solutions for PDO and its’ contractors.
The contract fulfils PDO’s vision of creating a partnership with a leading global logistics company.
PDO accounts for more than 90% of Oman's crude oil production and nearly all its natural gas supply, generating 40% of the country's gross domestic product. PDO is owned jointly by the Government of Oman (60%), the Royal Dutch/Shell Group (34%), Total (4%) and Partex (2%).
